Bathroom Remodeling & Custom Shower Tile Installation
Tile Works by Rich and Sons provides full bathroom remodeling and custom shower tile installation for homeowners throughout Middlesex County and Monmouth County, NJ. From our Monroe showroom, we help homeowners plan bathrooms and showers that are professionally installed by our three Certified Tile Installers, with proper shower waterproofing built into every shower project.
From a hall bathroom update to a completely redesigned primary bath, Tile Works can manage the project from demolition through the final tile installation.
Full Bathroom Remodels – Start to Finish
Tile Works does more than install bathroom tile. We handle complete bathroom renovations, including master baths, hall baths and powder rooms.
Our process can include on-site measurement, old tile removal, subfloor correction and waterproofing, tile installation, grouting and sealing, cleanup and a final walkthrough. We manage the entire process so you don’t have to coordinate multiple contractors.
Whether you’re replacing an outdated bathroom, creating a larger custom shower or completely changing the design of the space, our team can help you select the tile and develop the right installation approach for your project.

Custom Shower Systems & Waterproofing
What you see on the outside of a shower matters, but what’s behind the tile is just as important.
Tile Works builds custom showers using professional installation and waterproofing systems designed to protect the structure beneath the finished tile.
Schluter Shower system
Tile Works installs the Schluter shower system for custom residential showers. The system allows our installers to create an integrated waterproof shower assembly before the finished tile is installed.
Schluter Kerdi Paper
Our team builds showers waterproofed with Schluter kerdi paper, creating a waterproof layer behind the finished shower tile. Proper preparation and waterproofing are fundamental parts of the showers Tile Works builds.
Schluter Ditra Membrane & Uncoupling Membranes
Tile Works installs Schluter Ditra membrane and other uncoupling membranes beneath bathroom floor tile when appropriate for the installation. These systems help separate the finished tile surface from movement in the substrate below it.
Linear Drains & Point Drains
Tile Works builds custom showers using both Linear Drains and Point Drains. The right drain depends on the shower layout, tile selection and overall design, and our team can discuss the options during your estimate or when you visit our Monroe showroom.
Shower Waterproofing
Shower waterproofing is part of every shower Tile Works builds. Our Certified Tile Installers prepare and waterproof the shower before the finished tile is installed rather than treating waterproofing as an afterthought.
Tile Works carries Schluter products, and our Monroe warehouse is fully stocked with installation products, helping our installation teams have access to the professional materials needed to complete projects properly.
Heated Floor Systems with Ditra-Heat
Don’t like stepping onto a cold bathroom floor?
Tile Works installs Ditra-Heat membrane heated floor systems, allowing homeowners to incorporate comfortable radiant heat beneath their bathroom tile. Heated flooring can be planned as part of a complete bathroom renovation or incorporated into other appropriate bathroom floor projects.
Large Format Tile, Porcelain Panels & Natural Stone
Today’s bathrooms give homeowners more choices than traditional small-format tile.
Tile Works installs thin gauged porcelain panels and large format tiles on bathroom and shower walls, creating dramatic surfaces with fewer grout joints. Large porcelain panels can provide the near-seamless, minimal-grout appearance many homeowners are looking for in a contemporary bathroom or shower.
Our team also handles natural stone installations for shower walls, bathroom floors, feature walls and other custom applications.
Whether your design calls for oversized porcelain, natural stone, mosaics or a combination of materials, our installers carefully plan the layout, cuts and placement to create a professionally finished bathroom.
Why Professional Tile Installation Matters
A beautiful tile selection is only one part of a successful bathroom.
Bathroom floors and showers involve substrates, waterproofing, drainage, transitions, slopes, membranes, grout joints and numerous other details that ultimately disappear beneath the finished surface.
Tile Works by Rich and Sons is an NTCA member, and our installation team includes three Certified tile installers:
Richard Hernandez Jr. – CTI #1761
Ryan Hernandez – CTI #1616
Robert Hernandez – CTI #1762
These credentials reinforce our commitment to professional tile installation practices and craftsmanship, not simply how the bathroom looks on the day the project is completed.

Frequently Asked Questions About Bathroom Remodeling
Do you handle the whole bathroom renovation or just the tile?
Tile Works handles full bathroom renovations from start to finish, not just tile installation. Depending on the project, our work can include measurement, removal of existing tile, subfloor preparation and correction, waterproofing, floors and walls, tile installation, grouting and sealing, cleanup and final walkthrough.
Do you install heated bathroom floors?
Yes. Tile Works installs heated floor systems, including Ditra-Heat membrane systems beneath bathroom tile. Heated floors can be incorporated into many bathroom renovations to create a more comfortable tile floor.
Can you build a walk-in shower with no step?
Yes. Tile Works builds curb-less entry showers, barrier free showers and roll-in showers, including solutions for homeowners interested in an ADA compliant bathroom. These designs can be particularly helpful when planning for aging in place, wheelchair accessibility or a family member who has difficulty stepping over a traditional tub or shower curb.
Do you install large 24-by-48 porcelain panels?
Yes. Tile Works installs large format tiles and thin gauged porcelain panels, including large-format porcelain used on bathroom and shower walls. These installations can create a dramatic, near-seamless appearance with fewer grout joints than smaller-format tile.
Are your tile installers certified?
Yes. Tile Works has three Certified Tile Installers on staff: Richard Hernandez Jr., CTI #1761; Ryan Hernandez, CTI #1616; and Robert Hernandez, CTI #1762. Tile Works is also an NTCA member, reinforcing our commitment to professional tile installation standards and practices.
